You know that mantra, ‘Give a man a fish, he'll eat for a day. Teach a man to fish, he'll eat for a lifetime?’ It's missing something: Impact Lending is the fishing rod, the boat, the net, etc.” Bono, Lead Singer, U2

As an innovative 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that is leading the way to help tackle the worlds modern day social injustices by investing in social enterprises; we are connecting people with Field workers and nationals to create businesses and to help fund their project needs, while changing their own environment and the environment around them.

There are so many different ways we can fight the social injustices and the problems of this world. We, like many people, feel overwhelmed and helpless at times knowing how large and vast the needs are, but if not us then who.

It is our desire to have individuals like you to give your “plenty” and help a fieldworker or a national to start, maintain or better their business. By giving your “plenty” you become socially responsible, which allows those whom you give to, to be able reach many others within their area and creates social good. You are investing in both the lives you are impacting directly and also those around them while fighting social injustices globally.

As advocates and people who wish to give opportunity to those who need it most, Butterfly International has networked and partnered with many like you, to see this vision come to pass. Please look at some of the statistics and facts below that we have uncovered to see why we all must do something. One of our best courses of action in dealing with these is to IMPACT one Field Worker and one national at a time so they can be in a position to feed, care for and better their families which will create long term success.

Poverty can mean such a vastly different thing to so many people. Whether it is the child who is constantly hungry, the families and their children who are forced to live in internment camps because their own country’s government is trying to erase them, or the father who must choose between medicine for his sick child and rent, poverty is something that no one should have to contend with. These people are living without any hope. With very little or no education, they are destined to remain in the cycle of hunger, ignorance, and despair. Daily they are forced to accept where they are at without any hope of a different future.

Butterfly International’s Impact Lend program, by creating businesses and jobs for nationals and field workers, is helping people rise above the hopeless attitude of what poverty brings. Butterfly International impact lenders, such as yourself, are involved in peer to peer micro financing- a process based on mutual respect and trust. This gives Butterfly International’s field workers and nationals a chance to create a business to help those most in need. With their business started, they can then employ others in their community, allowing them to “pay it forward” and let the blessings they have received from their business to spill over to their friends and family.

Our earth represent a store of living and breathing renewable natural resources that for centuries, by virtue of their richness in both animal and plant species, have contributed a wealth of resources for the survival and well-being of humankind. These resources have included basic food supplies, clothing, shelter, fuel, spices, industrial raw materials, and medicine for all those who have lived in the majesty of the forest. We want to stop the waste and neglect of our creation. However, the inner dynamics of a tropical rainforest is an intricate and fragile system. Everything is so interdependent that upsetting one part can lead to unknown damage or even destruction of the whole.

Because of the poverty in many parts of our world, people have been forced to use the land without much thought to future generations or the long term effects. They simply were doing what they could to survive. We are working with our field workers to educate them and use their natural abilities to use the land wisely. Through our Impact 25 lends, we are creating businesses that provide long term stability for our field workers. This allows our field workers to educate the nationals where they live. Through education, the nationals can find productive ways to use their abilities wisely.

John Stott has said, “God intends our work to be an expression of our worship, and our care of the creation to reflect our love for the creator.” God has given us the responsibility for the preservation of His creation. It is not through our words, but through our actions that we will begin to see things change. Research shows that building businesses for nationals and field workers, we see significant change in the people and community. It starts one day at a time with an attitude that we can make a difference.
Sometimes it is all too easy to stay in our safe little world in which we live, but we must force ourselves to open our eyes to the injustices being done. How can anyone say that it is ok for a 14 year old girl to be forced into prostitution or a 10 year old boy to be severely beaten for not picking enough cocoa beans in Africa? These are everyday occurrences in many countries around the world, including the United States.

We are creating business in countries where field workers are dealing with this all the time. The field workers we support with Impact 25 Lends see the atrocities within their countries all the time. They work with the victims of human trafficking and see the families so poor they feel they don’t have any choice but to sell themselves as labor. Unfortunately, many of us are unaware that this problem is going on right in our own backyards and the part we play in it. We eat our chocolate bars and sip our lattes without even realizing that some of the products we consume or use on a daily basis were manufactured or harvested by slave labor-many times from children.

Human trafficking is no longer a problem we can push quietly under the rug. We take your Impact 25 Lend to create businesses to help those caught in bondage be free and find more productive and safe ways of earning money to support themselves and their family.
